Two Arrested in Drug Operation in Malé

Two men have been arrested following a drug operation carried out in Malé by the Drug Enforcement Department in collaboration with Counter Narcotics Intelligence.
Police said the arrests were made during an operation conducted on Tuesday, under a court order, at a residence in the Galolhu district of Malé.
Those arrested were identified as Amjad Riqab, 36, from G.A. Villingili/Bulaafaruge, and Mohamed Naif, 28, from Sh. Noomaraa/Morning Star.
During the search, police seized a large quantity of suspected narcotics along with a significant amount of Maldivian currency. Authorities said the initial weight of the seized drugs was around 266.29 grams.
Both suspects were presented before the court to determine their remand status. The court ordered Amjad Riqab to be remanded in custody for five days, while Mohamed Naif was ordered to be held in custody until the conclusion of court proceedings.
Police said the case remains under investigation.
