Two Arrested Over Alleged Theft of Electrical Equipment Worth Over MVR 80,000 in Kulhudhuffushi

Two men have been arrested in Kulhudhuffushi on suspicion of stealing electrical equipment valued at more than MVR 80,000 from a boatyard and warehouse.

Police identified the suspects as 27-year-old Haseeb Adam of Thanbeege and 27-year-old Mohamed Nabeel Ahmed of White Herd, both from HDh. Kulhudhuffushi. They were arrested on 9 July.

According to police, Mohamed Nabeel Ahmed was remanded in custody for 12 days, while Haseeb Adam was remanded for five days.

The alleged theft was reported to police on 8 July.

Police said the stolen items included an electric drill, an electric saw, a cut-off machine, toolboxes, electrical wires and other electrical tools. The total value of the equipment is estimated to exceed MVR 80,000.

The stolen equipment has since been recovered and is being returned to its owners, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
