Two Arrested Over Public Indecency in Hiyaa Balcony

Two people have been arrested in connection with an act of public indecency on the balcony of a Hiyaa flat in Hulhumalé Phase 2, police said.

Police said they launched an investigation after a video circulated on social media showing a man and a woman engaging in indecent behaviour on the balcony of an apartment in Hiyaa Tower 12.

According to police, a 36-year-old Maldivian man and a 25-year-old Maldivian woman were arrested on 18 September 2026 under a court order. The incident took place on 27 August.

The two suspects were presented before court for a decision on their remand. The court ordered that they be held in custody for five days.

Police said the investigation into the matter is ongoing.
