Two Youths Arrested in Male’ with Over Three Kilograms of Drugs

Two youths have been arrested in Male’ City with over three kilograms of drugs during a counter-narcotics operation carried out by the Maldives Police Service’s Drug Enforcement Department and Counter Narcotics Intelligence.

The suspects have been identified as 27-year-old Shaain Ali from Falak, L. Naifaru, and 20-year-old Aishath Masha Ahmed from Ihraamge, AA. Feridhoo.

Police said the drugs were seized from a home in the Henveiru district of Male’ City during a search conducted under a court order as part of the operation.

Both suspects have been remanded in custody for five days while investigations continue.

Authorities noted that drug-related arrests involving youths are becoming increasingly common, with young people reportedly playing active roles in major drug networks.
