UNDP Opens Registration for Practice Parliament for Women Programmme

The UN Development Programme in the Maldives has initiated registration for the Practice Parliament for Women programmme 2024, inviting eligible women for training on parliamentary proceedings.

The UNDP has extended an invitation to women aged 25 and above to join the program, with the deadline set for January 27. The sessions will be conducted in the Male’ city and are slated for February 18 to 24.

In a collaborative effort involving UNDP Maldives, the Maldives Parliament, Australian Aid, and the Ministry of Social and Family Development, the program seeks to empower women by enhancing their understanding of parliamentary functions.

UNDP has outlined a batch-wise selection process for applicants, with 40 individuals allowed per cohort. Criteria for selection include a demonstrated interest in political engagement, as evidenced by involvement in political parties, women’s development committees, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and community activities.
