Vaadhoo Council Advises Students Not to Remain Outdoors After 9:00 PM

Students in Vaadhoo have been advised not to remain outdoors after 9:00 pm without a parent or guardian, under new guidelines issued by the Vaadhoo Island Council.

The council issued an eight-point set of guidelines, citing concerns over certain student behaviours and stressing the importance of building a safe and responsible community.

Students have also been advised to avoid using public squares, parks, and developed community beaches after sunset, as well as sports grounds and facilities.

The council instructed students to suspend sports activities during prayer times and advised them not to approach or enter the harbour breakwater without a parent or guardian.

They have also been told not to travel outside the island without a parent or guardian and to refrain from undertaking work considered inappropriate for their age, whether paid or unpaid.

The guidelines also call on students to refrain from smoking and from participating in the buying or selling of tobacco products.

The council said it would closely monitor compliance and take stricter measures against students who violate the directives.

They also urged parents to pay closer attention to their children’s activities and wellbeing.

The council said the guidelines were issued as part of its efforts to provide greater guidance to students during their school years and help raise a responsible generation.
