Villa College has recognised 54 students for outstanding academic performance at its annual Student Achievement Awards, with 36 receiving the Qasim Ibrahim Award for Excellence and 53 receiving College Medals and Industry Prizes.
The sixth edition of the awards ceremony, held this year, was attended by Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Steven West, Villa College senior management, faculty members, industry representatives, graduates and parents.
The Qasim Ibrahim Award for Excellence was presented to students who achieved the highest CGPA or average marks in their respective programmes while meeting the college’s First Class or Distinction criteria.
Since recipients of the Qasim Ibrahim Award also received the College Medal, 54 students were officially recognised, including one student who received Special Academic Performance Recognition.
The special recognition was awarded to Aishath Afnan Ibrahim Ahmed, who ranked first in the Maldives and 30th worldwide in Financial Management in the June 2026 ACCA examination session.
College Medals and Industry Prizes were presented to top achievers in each batch by representatives of 29 industry partners.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Latheef said Villa College’s approximately 27,000 graduates currently working across the country demonstrated the contribution of a homegrown higher education institution to the Maldives.
Villa College Vice Rector Associate Professor Dr Ali Najeeb said students achieving top positions in UWE Bristol programmes demonstrated that students studying at Villa College could achieve at the same standard as those studying in Bristol.
The college said it has completed the final stage of international accreditation with the UK Quality Assurance Agency and is the only Maldivian educational institution to have received a five-star rating from the QS Stars Rating System.
The college also highlighted its newly introduced Graduate Impact Semester and Learning Profile, designed to provide students with practical experience and showcase skills and experiences to potential employers.
