VP Outlines Vision for Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu’s Digital Future

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has expressed his vision for Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu to develop as a modern digital platform while maintaining its culturally rooted programming.

Speaking on the station’s Baajjaveri Hendhuneh programme, broadcast today to mark Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu’s 63rd anniversary, the Vice President emphasised the need for the station to grow and remain relevant in the digital era without compromising its core identity.

He highlighted the importance of delivering content that resonates with today’s generation while remaining a trusted and credible source. Radio, he noted, plays a vital role in disseminating national news and information and serves as an essential medium for guiding society in a constructive direction. He expressed his aspiration for radio to evolve into a fully accessible and deeply integrated platform for all citizens.

Reflecting on the station’s contribution to nation-building and social stability, the Vice President said its continued broadcasts merit recognition. He encouraged the public, particularly young people, to use the information disseminated through radio responsibly.

The Vice President and his spouse, Aishath Afreen Mohamed, who joined him during the programme, expressed appreciation for the station’s role in providing news and information as the national public broadcaster. They acknowledged the contributions of past and present leadership, as well as the staff, in fostering a cohesive and healthy society in the Maldives.

During the broadcast, the Vice President shared personal reflections and engaged in conversations with his father, his teacher, and members of the public who participated in the programme.

The Vice President’s remarks underline a commitment to modernising Dhivehi Raajjeyge Adu while preserving its cultural and social significance as a key institution in Maldivian media.
