MV+ News Desk | May 1, 2026

Workers’ rights groups and advocates gathered this afternoon for the May Day Rally, united under a clear message seen across banners: “Respect, Recognition, and Rights.”

The rally brought together labour rights groups, including the Tourism Employees Association of Maldives (TEAM), Maldives Port Workers Union (MPWU), Teachers Association of Maldives, and Bodu Kanneli Masveringe Union, each standing in solidarity for stronger labour protections.

May Day, observed on May 1st, marks International Workers’ Day, commemorating the global struggle for fair wages, safe working conditions, and the right of workers to organize and be represented.
