City Council Seeks Veterinarian and Veterinary Staff for New Cat Shelter
The Male’ City Council has announced plans to recruit a veterinarian, veterinary nurse, and co-ordinator for the new cat shelter in Hulhumalé.

The selected veterinarian will receive a monthly salary of MVR 35,000 and will be responsible for providing services to visitors, conducting medical examinations, and assessing the health of cats brought to the centre. Additionally, the veterinarian will visit neighbourhoods within the city to deliver essential veterinary services, diagnose and treat pets, and perform surgery on both farm animals and household pets.
The position of veterinary nurse offers a salary of over MVR 8,000, along with a daily service allowance of MVR 100. Nurses will also earn 35 per cent of their salary for any overtime worked.
Construction of the dog centre in Hulhumalé Phase II is nearing completion, and the city council has announced plans to relocate street cats to the facility next month. Furthermore, the council is also seeking donations of toys for the cats.
