MV+ News Desk | October 26, 2024

The Ministry of Housing has announced a fresh draw to reallocate land plots awarded under the previous administration’s Binveriya housing scheme.

This latest draw will include original recipients from Gulhifalhu, as well as those who opted to switch plots from Giraavarufalhu to Gulhifalhu.

In a statement released yesterday, the Ministry outlined changes to the land allocations under the amended Gulhifalhu Land Use Plan, published on 15 October. As a result, a new draw will be held for eligible recipients of Gulhifalhu plots, including individuals who have already been assigned land and those who successfully transferred their plots from Giraavarufalhu to Gulhifalhu.

The draw, scheduled for Tuesday at Dharubaaruge’s Rannabandeyri Maalam, will begin at 9:00 am. Recipients are advised to attend the draw, or, if attending on behalf of someone else, to bring a no-objection letter and an ID copy of the original recipient.

The Ministry has also released lists categorising the land plots by size in the government gazette, prioritising recipients in the order established by the Ministry’s allocation list. Following the draw, further details regarding plot registration and agreements will be provided.

This initiative builds on the former administration’s plan under President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, which designated 9,003 plots across Hulhumale’, Gulhifalhu, and Giraavarufalhu to 18,955 recipients eligible under the first round of the Binveriya scheme.
