Police Conduct Searches in Haa Alifu Atoll Baarah Over Sorcery Allegations

Police have conducted searches at eight locations and questioned eight individuals in Haa Alifu Atoll Baarah in connection with allegations of practising sorcery. 

The operation, which took place this morning, was prompted by a tip-off from police intelligence. Starting at 7 am, officers carried out searches at the identified locations, where they seized items believed to be linked to sorcery.

All eight individuals who were detained during the operation were later released following questioning. Authorities have not provided further details on the case, stating that the investigation remains ongoing.

This follows a similar operation on February 20, when police searched ten houses in Haa Dhaalu Atoll Kulhudhuffushi. During that search, paraphernalia allegedly connected to sorcery was recovered from eight of the homes. No arrests were made during that operation, and no additional information was released to the public at the time.
