Two Indian Nationals Arrested in Hulhumalé Over Suspected Alcohol Possession

Two Indian nationals have been arrested in Hulhumalé after being found in possession of 40 water bottles suspected to contain alcohol.

According to the Maldives Police Service, officers stopped and searched a van bearing the registration number ‘AB1B C4278’ during an operation carried out on Friday. During the search, the police discovered 40 bottles, each with a capacity of 500 millilitres, believed to be filled with alcohol.
The individuals arrested at the scene have been identified as Rajagopal Selvaganapathy, aged 47, and Thalapathi Pugazhendhi, aged 27.
The van involved in the incident has been towed as part of the ongoing investigation.
