President Muizzu Attends the Closing Ceremony of Maldives 2.0 Summit

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu attended the closing ceremony of the Maldives 2.0 Digital Transformation Summit last night, held at Barceló Nasandhura Malé.

‘Maldives 2.0’ is a flagship initiative by President Muizzu to accelerate digital transformation and modernisation across all sectors and institutions in the country. The program introduces smart digital reforms and innovations designed to streamline public services, enhance convenience, and ensure transparency. Over the next three years, it aims to build a digitally connected Maldives by integrating accessible technologies throughout the islands and elevating national service standards.

A three-day summit gathered key authorities and stakeholders for in-depth discussions on strengthening cybersecurity and enabling secure digital transactions through internationally standardised digital IDs. Participants also explored establishing a national data exchange layer to ensure timely and secure information sharing among state institutions. The summit addressed the development of a sovereign cloud for safely storing and archiving sensitive government data, the delivery of citizen-centric services via digital platforms, the cultivation of a tech-savvy generation, and the expansion of opportunities for Maldivians and local businesses in the ICT sector.

The event concluded with a presentation of key summit outcomes. Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, formally presented the Ceremonial Conferral of the National Digital Commitment to President Muizzu.

Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef, Speaker of the People’s Majlis Hon. Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Chief Justice Uz Ahmed Muthasim Adnan, and several speakers, moderators, and panellists from summit sessions witnessed the conferral. Senior officials from the Estonian government and members of the ICT Committee also attended the event, alongside Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials, and international dignitaries.
