President Appoints Aishath Asna Hamdi as Deputy Governor of MMA

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu appointed Aishath Asna Hamdi as the Deputy Governor of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) yesterday.
Asna brings 17 years of expertise in central banking and financial sector development. Before her current role, she led the Financial Sector Development division at the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
She earned her Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, in 2014. She completed her Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) at the University of East London in 2007, following an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration from the Association of Business Executives (UK) in 2005. Between 2001 and 2003, she also attained a Diploma and Certificate in Business Administration from the Association of Business Administration (UK).
In 2023, Asna received the Technical Leadership Award in recognition of her impactful contributions to the field. She has also authored several academic papers on financial sector development.
