According to the President’s Office, the 565-metre causeway is set to be completed within 600 days (one year and eight months). The project includes road construction, tarring, installation of street lighting, 112 metres of revetment, and a 15-metre groyne.

Once finished, the causeway will greatly enhance connectivity between Muli and Naalaafushi. It will facilitate centralised service delivery, promote resource sharing, and support integrated development. Moreover, the improved link will boost economic opportunities and strengthen social ties between the two islands.

The President’s Office also said President Muizzu pledged to accelerate the construction of the new hospital building. They stated that this project aims to expand and modernise existing facilities, thereby raising the overall standard of healthcare for residents.

The new hospital will be a modern four-storey structure, equipped to meet growing healthcare needs. It will feature advanced medical technology and spacious facilities, significantly upgrading current services. The government has awarded the construction contract to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

The project is expected to be completed in 780 days (two years and two months), with a projected completion date in mid-2027. Once operational, the new Muli Regional Hospital will substantially improve access to healthcare for residents of Meemu Atoll.
