Three Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested in Malé on Suspicion of Drug Peddling

Three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Malé City last week on suspicion of involvement in drug-related activities, including peddling, possession, and use.
The arrests were made on 22 May during a joint operation carried out by the Counter-Narcotics Intelligence Department and the Drug Enforcement Department of the Maldives Police Service. The operation followed a tip-off regarding the suspects’ alleged activities.

The individuals arrested are MD Salam Mia, aged 41, Abu Taleb, aged 47, and MD Mehedi Hassan, aged 29. All three are Bangladeshi nationals.
Police conducted a search of a residence in the Galolhu district of Malé, where 350.92 grams of drugs were discovered. The type of drug found has not been disclosed by authorities.
The suspects were brought before the Criminal Court on 23 May for a remand hearing, after which they were placed in police custody for a period of 15 days.
