The student’s father alleged that the teacher grabbed and twisted his son’s finger after being struck by a water bottle, causing the dislocation. He said the teacher reset the joint but did not seek medical assistance or inform school authorities. The family only became aware of the injury after the boy’s class teacher contacted them, reporting that the child was in pain and crying.

Initial treatment was provided at Kandoodhoo Health Centre, and the student was later transferred to Thaa Atoll Hospital in Veymandoo. Police officers were reportedly present during the child’s medical evaluation.

Following the incident, the teacher was temporarily relocated to Omadhoo. Authorities have confirmed that after taking a statement from the teacher, he was released from custody. The Ministry of Education has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
