Broadcom Opens Applications for Secretary General Role Following Dismissal of Zeeniya

The Broadcasting Commission of Maldives (Broadcom) has announced the opening of applications for the position of Secretary General, following the dismissal of Mariyam Zeeniya on 25 May.

Zeeniya was removed from the post for failing to cooperate with the commission’s decisions and not showing due respect to the commission, according to Broadcom.

In a public notification issued by the commission, eligible candidates have been invited to submit applications using the prescribed format by no later than 23 June 2025. Applications must be submitted at the commission’s counter.

Broadcom stated that the selection process will be based on the documents submitted by the applicants. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements will be shortlisted and invited for interviews.

As outlined in the Iulaan, only individuals aged between 25 and 55 are eligible to apply for the role. The commission will consider candidates’ educational background and work experience in relevant fields when assessing suitability for the post.

The Iulaan also notes that the successful candidate will receive a monthly salary of MVR 36,200. The performance of the Secretary General will be reviewed annually, based on standards set by the commission’s members.
