White Alert Issued for Northern and Central Maldives: Strong Winds, Rough Seas Forecast

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued a white alert from Haa Alifu Atoll to Meemu Atoll.

These alerts are in effect from 08:30 hours to 14:30 hours today.

The forecasts warn of strong winds of 19 – 24mph and rough seas expected.

Residents and visitors in the affected areas are advised by the MMS to remain vigilant and implement appropriate safety measures.

MMS categorises weather alerts as follows:

White alert: Alert Level 1

Yellow advisory: Alert Level 2

Orange warning: Alert Level 3

Red warning: Alert Level 4
