President Muizzu Receives Letters of Credence from Six Non-Resident Envoys

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu received the Letters of Credence from six newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassadors and High Commissioners to the Republic of Maldives at a ceremony held this morning at the President’s Office.

Each diplomat was escorted from Republic Square to the President’s Office in a traditional “Haiykolhu” cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.

Professor Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda, Non-Resident High Commissioner of the Republic of Uganda, presented her credentials and held discussions with President Muizzu on bilateral cooperation. Topics included economic development, climate resilience, education, tourism, cultural exchange, and trade.

Aliki Koutsomitopoulou, Non-Resident Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic (Greece), also presented her credentials. The President and the Ambassador discussed areas of cooperation such as economic ties, educational exchange, tourism, and climate-related initiatives. 

Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Non-Resident Ambassador of Denmark, met with the President following the credential ceremony. Discussions included economic development, climate change, and renewable energy. The President noted the volume of Danish tourist arrivals and referenced connectivity improvements linked to airport infrastructure. 

Sardor Rustambaev, Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, presented his credentials and met with the President to discuss trade, economic cooperation, and educational ties. 

Stella Nkomo, Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe, presented her Letter of Credence and met with President Muizzu. The meeting focused on mutual interests, particularly tourism and economic collaboration. 

Ihab Ibrahim Mohamed Khalil, Non-Resident Ambassador of the State of Palestine, was also received by the President. During the meeting, the Ambassador appreciated the Maldives’ position on the Palestinian cause, while the President reiterated the Maldives’ stance. Both sides addressed the scope for further bilateral cooperation.
