MMC Welcomes Newly Elected Members to Council

The Maldives Media Council (MMC) formally welcomed its newly elected members today, following the bi-election held on 21 June.
Mohamed Muzayyin Nazim from Dhauru and Leevan Ali Nasir from Adhadhu were elected as media representatives, while Hawwa Wajda Gasim was elected to represent the public. The announcement of the results was delayed after the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts received a complaint from one of the candidates who lost the election.

MMC President Hussain Sageef noted that, in previous elections, the council received official letters of appointment from the ministry the day after voting. However, in this instance, they received the letters only today.
He also stated that the ministry had not provided any updates regarding the complaint submitted following the election.
