President Muizzu and First Lady Conclude State Visit to Singapore

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed returned to Malé yesterday after completing a state visit to Singapore at the invitation of His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of Singapore.
During the visit, President Muizzu held high-level discussions with President Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties. The two countries signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in key areas, including capacity-building, environmental development, education, and collaboration with the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise.
In addition, the Maldives signed two major agreements: one with Henley & Partners to launch a Residence by Investment Programme, and another with APM SPV Pvt. Ltd. for the implementation of Project Solar City.
Marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Singapore, President Muizzu presented a commemorative book to President Shanmugaratnam, highlighting five decades of friendship and cooperation. The two leaders also unveiled commemorative stamps to mark the milestone.
At the Maldives–Singapore Business Forum, President Muizzu honoured individuals and companies who have played a pivotal role in strengthening commercial links between the two nations. The forum also spotlighted investment opportunities aligned with the Government’s Vision 2040 agenda.
President Muizzu and the First Lady engaged with members of the Maldivian community living in Singapore and toured several key institutions, including the Institute of Technical Education, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), Tuas Port, the Peranakan Museum, and the Singapore Food Agency.
This inaugural state visit reaffirmed both nations’ shared commitment to deepening Maldives–Singapore cooperation and expanding avenues for meaningful partnership.
