First Lady Sajidha Mohamed on Thursday shared her profound personal connection to the healthcare sector, describing it as deeply intertwined with her own memories, experiences, and emotions. She made this remark while addressing the 43rd anniversary celebrations of Feydhoo Health Centre in Addu City.
Speaking at the commemorative event held in Maradhoo-Feydhoo, the First Lady reflected on the evolution of healthcare on Feydhoo Island, noting the pivotal moment when allopathic medicine was first introduced to the community. She praised the island’s current healthcare infrastructure and the professionals behind its progress.
“The healthcare sector has always held a special place in my heart,” she said. “It is a field that demands not only knowledge and skill but also unwavering compassion and inner strength.”
She underscored the importance of patience and empathy when tackling complex challenges in the healthcare space, urging healthcare workers to maintain a calm and considered approach in their service to the public.
The ceremony also served as an occasion to honour the individuals who have contributed significantly to the growth of the Feydhoo Health Centre. Commemorative plaques were presented to several key figures for their longstanding contributions, while high-performing employees received awards recognising their excellence. The First Lady also paid tribute to long-serving staff, presenting special plaques to those who have dedicated over 30 years to the centre.
