Maldives has engaged in discussions with Saudi Arabia aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the education sector.

The talks took place during a courtesy call by the newly appointed Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the Maldives, Yahya Hassan Al-Qahtani, on the Minister of Education, Dr Ismail Shafeeu, on Monday.
The meeting focused on ways to enhance collaboration between the two countries in education, according to a statement by the Ministry of Education on social media platform X.
Ambassador Yahya Hassan Al-Qahtani had previously presented his Letter of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on 6 July.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia were formally established on 17 March 1981.
Over the years, Saudi Arabia has remained a committed partner in the infrastructure development of the Maldives.
