India’s High Commissioner Meets VP Ahead of PM Modi’s Visit

G. Balasubramanian, the High Commissioner of the Republic of India to the Republic of the Maldives, today paid a courtesy call on Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef at the President’s Office. The meeting comes just days before the state visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled for July 25-26, 2025.

During their discussion, both The VP and High Commissioner reaffirmed the enduring Maldives-India partnership. They acknowledged the extensive history of cooperation and emphasised the deep-rooted ties fostered by shared interests and values. The importance of strong people-to-people connections was also highlighted as a fundamental pillar of the bilateral relationship.

Concluding the call, Vice President Latheef conveyed the Maldivian government’s unwavering commitment to further meaningful engagement with the Government of India. He stressed the prioritisation of this crucial relationship through necessary arrangements that underscore mutual understanding and respect in all aspects of interactions and actions.
