During the trip, President Muizzu engaged with members of Island Councils and Women’s Development Committees to hear concerns from residents and assess community needs. The Government marked the start of several development initiatives during the tour, including the laying of foundation stones for Police posts and fitness centres, as well as the launch of land reclamation and infrastructure improvement projects for schools and health centres.

At the final stop of the tour in Lhohi, the President assured residents that several key development projects would soon begin, including the construction of a new health centre and a fully equipped school building. He stated that the health centre contract would be awarded this year, with construction to start before the end of 2025.

Addressing local concerns about the ongoing harbour development project, President Muizzu acknowledged the need for year-round usability and committed to ensuring that the harbour meets long-term resilience standards, based on technical assessments and community feedback.

In the area of sports infrastructure, he inaugurated a new Fitness and Recreation Centre and Outdoor Gym, and confirmed that the football field development project will include floodlights for night matches, along with the construction of a new volleyball court.

President Muizzu also announced that work on an international-standard surfing area and a road development project in Lhohi would begin soon, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to advancing island-level development.

The President stated that agreements for several nationwide development projects are expected to be signed in the near future, with implementation to follow shortly thereafter.
