In his address during the banquet, President Muizzu described the Maldives–India relationship as one rooted in shared history and enduring partnership. He reflected on the long-standing ties between the two nations, noting that their connection predates formal diplomacy and is deeply embedded in the cultural and historical fabric of the Indian Ocean region.

“The Indian Ocean stands as a living testament to the centuries of interaction between our peoples—traders, neighbours, and friends,” said President Muizzu, emphasising the strength and resilience of the bilateral bond.

The President also expressed appreciation for India’s continued support and reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to regional peace, economic growth, and youth empowerment. He noted that India’s partnership plays a key role in the country’s path toward building an inclusive and dynamic economy.

Looking ahead, President Muizzu expressed hope for a stronger, more prosperous future for both nations through continued cooperation.

Prime Minister Modi, in his remarks, echoed the President’s sentiments, emphasising the mutual trust and cultural ties that have long united the peoples of India and the Maldives. He highlighted the shared heritage between the two countries and reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

The banquet served as a ceremonial highlight of Prime Minister Modi’s state visit, reinforcing the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between the Maldives and India.
