The government has officially launched the Build, Educate, Advance, Motivate (BEAM) Training Initiative to provide youth with professional training in the media sector.
The programme was inaugurated by the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts, Ibrahim Waheed.
The BEAM Training Initiative aims to create opportunities for employees of Public Service Media (PSM) as well as other media workers across the Maldives. The initiative responds to growing demand among young people and media professionals for structured training in the field.
As part of the launch, PSM signed agreements with the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts, the Islamic University of Maldives, Avid College, and MI College. The collaboration will enable comprehensive training programmes that were previously conducted internally by PSM, extending opportunities to participants nationwide.
PSM’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Nasreen, noted that media institutes are commonly operated under the supervision of public service broadcasters worldwide. Through the newly signed agreements, PSM will lead training efforts to develop professional skills and support career growth in the Maldivian media industry.
