President Muizzu Begins Three-Day Tour of Alifu Alifu Atoll

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu departed this morning on a three-day visit to the inhabited islands of Alifu Alifu Atoll.
During the tour, the President will visit eight islands—Thoddoo, Rasdhoo, Ukulhas, Mathiveri, Bodufolhudhoo, Feridhoo, Maalhos, and Himandhoo—meeting Island Councils, Women’s Development Committees (WDCs), and local residents to discuss community development priorities and wellbeing. He is accompanied by Cabinet Ministers and senior officials from key government institutions.
Today, on Himandhoo Island, President Muizzu met the Island Council, WDC, and heads of local institutions to address pressing concerns, including harbour channel issues, coastal erosion, healthcare challenges, and the school’s shortage of classrooms. He assured residents that the new 12-classroom building under construction at AA. Himandhoo School will be ready for the start of the new academic year.

The President also inaugurated the island’s new water and sewerage system and the extended Himandhoo Health Centre. He pledged to strengthen healthcare services, enhance laboratory facilities, and develop a handball court and indoor gym as part of a nationwide sports initiative. Coastal protection works will commence soon, and the harbour channel issue will be resolved in parallel.
President Muizzu’s visit is part of a broader initiative to tour all Maldivian atolls, engaging directly with councils and communities to ensure development plans meet local needs.
