Hulhumalé City Hotel to be Converted into Five-Star ‘Manhattan Grand’

Hulhumalé City Hotel, along with a dedicated Media Village, is set to be redeveloped into a luxury five-star hotel named Manhattan Grand.

The project has been awarded to World of Business Private Limited, a foreign investment company operating in the Maldives under the Dubai-based Deep Seafood Company. The agreement, signed on Wednesday evening, includes the conversion of the existing City Hotel into a five-star property and the establishment of several colleges, including a media village.

The contract was formally signed during a ceremony attended by Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Managing Director Ali Zuhair, Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Asbah Ali, and Chief Commercial Officer Ahmed Aslam. Representing World of Business were Managing Director Ibrahim Naeem, Chief Executive Officer Fahiyas Pangat, and Chief Operating Officer Ali Nahiz.

According to the terms of the agreement, HDC will receive USD 11 million as the value of the hotel and an annual land rent of MVR 14.4 million.

The Manhattan Grand will dedicate three floors, along with part of another floor, to accommodate four commitments made by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. These spaces will house the Heritage College, Medical College, Media Village, and Youth Centre. Handover of these floors is expected within the next six months.

The new hotel will feature 158 rooms, a banquet hall, a multipurpose hall, conference halls, and a swimming pool. It will also host four international food and beverage brands, as well as gym and spa facilities. Overall completion and opening of the Manhattan Grand are anticipated within the next year.
