The 50 MW plant was temporarily shut down to carry out essential maintenance on its six generators, amid rising electricity demand and a growing population in Hulhumale’.
STELCO said the maintenance work was completed earlier than expected, allowing the engines to be restarted and normal electricity services to resume.
The company has previously noted that an additional power plant will be needed in the future to meet the increasing electricity needs of Male’ and Hulhumale’.
