Prominent Maldivian businessman and tourism industry veteran ‘Kerafaa’ Abdul Ghani has passed away at the age of 86. He died yesterday in Bangkok, Thailand, after a long illness, accompanied by his wife and a son.
Abdul Ghani was a co-founder of the Crown Company, a major enterprise in the Maldivian tourism sector. The company’s portfolio includes leading resorts such as Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Veligandu Island Resort, Hideaway Beach Resort, and Crown and Champa Resorts. Crown also owns Treetop Hospital, one of the country’s most advanced healthcare facilities.
He collaborated closely with pioneering tourism figures Champa Hussain Afeef and Champa Mohamed Moosa (Uchchu), contributing to the early development of the industry.
