Captain of Missing Boat Found Dead Near Ekefara Sea

The captain of the missing boat Kolama from Gaafu Alifu Kolamaafushi was found dead when the vessel was located near Ekefara sea yesterday. 

The vessel had gone out of contact after crossing Laamu Atoll towards Huvadhoo sea. Concern was raised on social media on Sunday night when individuals appealed for information about the boat’s whereabouts.

The Maldives Police Service confirmed that the boat was located at around 13:35 on Monday afternoon near Ekefara sea, south of Gaafu Alifu Villingili. 

The captain was transported to Gaafu Alifu Atoll Hospital in Villingili, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
