Government Awards Contracts For Waste Management Centres In Vaavu Atoll

The government has awarded contracts for the establishment of waste management centres in two islands of Vaavu Atoll.

The projects, located in Thinadhoo and Fulidhoo, have been contracted to Wee Hour Investment Private Limited. The agreements were signed by Deputy Minister of Tourism and Environment Ahmed Nizam on behalf of the Ministry, with senior officials signing on behalf of the company at a ceremony held yesterday.
According to the Ministry of Environment, some equipment required for the centres, including can-pressing machines and wood chippers, has already been handed over to the councils of Thinadhoo and Felidhoo.
The projects, with a combined value of USD 194,553, are expected to be completed within 120 days.
