Two Remanded in Malé Drug Case With Over MVR 41,000 in Suspected Proceeds

Three individuals were arrested in Malé City during a police operation that uncovered narcotics and more than MVR 41,500 in suspected drug proceeds.
Two of the suspects remain in custody while the third has been conditionally released.

According to police, the arrests were made in a joint operation conducted by the Counter-Narcotics Operation and Drug Enforcement units. The case involves the suspected possession, use, and peddling of narcotics.
The suspects who remain in custody are both from Maradhoo in Addu City and share the same address. They have been identified as 27-year-old Ahnaf Ashraf and 56-year-old Abdul Ghani Abdul Majeed.
Police confirmed that the arrests took place during a raid on a residence in the Maafannu district of Malé. During the search, officers confiscated 304.73 grams of suspected narcotics along with cash amounting to more than MVR 41,500 believed to be linked to drug sales.
The three were presented before the Criminal Court on Wednesday. One suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was granted conditional release, while Ahnaf and Abdul Ghani were remanded in police custody for 15 days.
