The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has terminated a police officer found in possession of drugs during a raid, following an internal investigation conducted by its Disciplinary Board.
Responding to a question from a journalist in the Police Media group, MPS confirmed that Aishath Shiyaza, 31, of Dhilbahaaruge, Kurinbudhoo in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, has been dismissed from service.
Shiyaza was arrested in July along with Saifullah Ahmed, 26, of Haazaarumaage, Dhidhdhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll, after police received a tip-off. Officers recovered three rubber packets containing a substance believed to be drugs, along with prohibited medicines, during the operation.
MPS said Shiyaza had been suspended from duty at the time of her arrest, and her dismissal followed the conclusion of the disciplinary probe.
