The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has announced that a new draw will be held today for applicants who scored above 73 points under the previous administration’s Gedhoruveriyaa housing scheme but did not participate in the earlier draw.

The decision follows the discovery of a discrepancy in the earlier selection process, where 301 applicants who scored above 76 points were excluded, while 315 applicants with 75 points were included and allocated flats.

In light of this issue, the ministry has decided to conduct a re-draw for those who scored 76 points and were previously left out. According to the ministry’s announcement issued on Tuesday, the new draw will include individuals who qualified for flats but did not take part in the draw held on 16 November 2023.

The eligible groups for the upcoming draw are applicants who scored 73 points and above but did not draw for two-bedroom flats, applicants who scored 76 points and above but did not draw for three-bedroom flats, and couples who were awarded two flats but relinquished one and have not yet participated in a draw.

The draw will take place at the Ministry of Housing at 15:00 on Wednesday and will be conducted by ministry staff. The results, including flat numbers and assigned recipients, will be published via the Gedhoruveriyaa portal.

The original list of 4,000 flat recipients was released by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration on 4 November 2023, shortly before the end of its term. Following widespread complaints, a revised and permanent list was issued on 15 November.
