Man Arrested on Sexual Abuse Allegations of a 13-year-old girl 

A 46-year-old Maldivian man has been arrested in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl in Hulhumalé, the Maldives Police Service has confirmed.

According to a police media official, the case was reported earlier this week, and the suspect was taken into custody on 21 October. The official stated that the man held a position of trust in the victim’s life, though further details were not disclosed in order to protect the child’s identity and privacy.

Authorities have said that the investigation is ongoing and have not yet provided information regarding possible charges or court proceedings.

Data from the Maldives Police Service indicate that 200 sexual offence cases have been reported so far in 2025.
