Maldives MSME Awards Open Public Voting for Seven Categories

The Business Center Corporation (BCC), under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, has announced the nominations for the Maldives MSME Awards, an initiative designed to recognise and encourage the achievements of the country’s smallest and medium enterprises.

Seven categories are now open for public voting, with businesses competing for recognition in a total of 20 categories, including 13 assessed by a panel of judges.

The publicly voted categories highlight a wide range of Maldivian talent and entrepreneurship. Nominees include My Cakes and Sweets, Palato, Foodies, Baba Gaadiyaa and Meraki in the Food Production sector; Tropical Designs, Shop at Mary, Island Touch Maldives, Toddy and Basque in Lifestyle Brands; and Fatima, Laiba, Linco, Munika and Falak in Clothing Design and Fashion. The Entertainment sector features Detune Band and Thirty-eight, while Drawing and Crafts nominees include Oevali Art Shop, Bybees, Macrama, Levelier and Abdi Maldives. Photography nominees are iCandy, Lights Out and Sarim Photos, and the Most Popular Marketing Firm category features Loop Craft, Publicity Bureau and Open Sky Group.

Public voting is being conducted via SMS and closes on 3 November at 12:00 pm. Meanwhile, the evaluation phase for the 13 judge-selected categories is ongoing.

The awards aim to recognise the essential role of small businesses in opening new markets and promoting the skills, productivity and progress of Maldivian workers and enterprises. The initiative has been positively received by the MSME community, which has welcomed the opportunity for wider recognition of their contributions to the national economy.
