Maldives Discusses Sustainable Tourism Growth with Pacific Asia Travel Association

The Maldives has held discussions with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) on promoting sustainable growth in its tourism sector.

The meeting took place between Minister of Tourism and Environment Ibrahim Thoriq, Visit Maldives Corporation’s Chairperson Abdulla Giyas Riyaz, and PATA’s Chief Executive Officer Noor Ahmad Hamid on the sidelines of the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2025.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, the discussions focused on developing strategies to build resilience in the tourism industry and prepare for potential challenges. The talks also emphasised the importance of adopting eco-friendly tourism practices and prioritising social development as part of the country’s sustainability goals.

Both parties agreed on the need to strengthen cooperation between the Maldives and PATA to advance sustainable tourism initiatives. The Ministry noted that such continued engagements are expected to contribute to the long-term development of the Maldivian tourism sector.
