Fahiroalhi Boat Sinks After Running Aground in Vaavu Atoll

A cargo ship transporting goods from Malé to Gaafu Alifu Faresmaathoda has capsized and begun sinking near Felidhoo in Vaavu Atoll.

The vessel, identified as the Fahiroalhi Boat, was carrying 12 people, including nine foreigners and three Maldivians. Those on board comprised the owner, the captain, and several crew members.
All passengers have been safely transported to Felidhoo with the assistance of police. Officials reported that the vessel ran aground, causing its bow to rupture, and much of the ship is now submerged.
Police have confirmed that an investigation into the incident is underway.
