Maldives Pledges Full Support to Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference Outcomes

The Speaker of the Maldives Parliament, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, has confirmed that the country will extend full cooperation to the outcomes of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (ISC).

The statement was made during a courtesy meeting with Yusuf Raza Gilani, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, where discussions focused on Maldives-Pakistan relations and key issues addressed at the ISC. The two leaders also highlighted the importance of further strengthening the long-standing friendly ties between the two nations.

Speaker Abdul Raheem praised the success of the ISC and emphasised the conference’s role in promoting legislative cooperation on matters of peace, security, and development. He reiterated the Maldives Parliament’s commitment to supporting collaborative efforts to address shared challenges.

During the meeting, Speaker Abdul Raheem expressed gratitude to the Parliament of Pakistan for the hospitality extended to the Maldivian delegation and offered condolences to the families affected by the recent attack in Islamabad, strongly condemning the incident.
