On Monday, police separately revealed they are investigating a sexual assault case involving a 24-year-old woman. According to police, the woman sought help from officers on a road in Malé on Sunday and was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), where medical examinations confirmed she had been sexually assaulted.

Speculation circulating on social media alleges the woman was gang-raped. Police have not commented on these claims and say the investigation continues.

Yesterday police shared that they are investigating a case involving an 18-year-old woman who was allegedly held against her will and physically assaulted. The authorities shared that the incident occurred at Maafannu, and was reported around 18:11 on Tuesday.
