Bar Council Elects New Member to its Executive Committee

Bar Council Maldives elected Sadhih Naseer last Thursday to fill the vacant position in its Executive Committee. The vacancy arose following the retirement of Ahmed Shafiu, who was appointed as a judge on 30 October.

The “Fahi Vote” was held on 4 December to elect a member to the vacant seat. Saadhih Naseer was the only eligible candidate for the position.

Of the 1,073 lawyers eligible to vote, 171 participated in the election. Saadhih Naseer received 129 votes in favour and 42 votes against, while 902 eligible members did not cast their vote.
