Four Indian Nationals Deny Drug Charges, Claim Seized Substance Is Protein

Four Indian nationals arrested in Malé earlier this week during a counter-narcotics operation have denied that the substance seized from them was illegal, claiming it was a protein.

The men, suspected by police of possessing and abusing drugs, appeared before the Criminal Court on Tuesday for their remand hearing. All four were remanded in police custody for five days.

Police stated that the substance seized from the suspects is believed to contain drugs, and they expect preliminary laboratory results within three months. The authorities have not provided further details regarding the case.

The suspects maintain that the seized material is not a controlled substance.
