Police Tow Over 780 Vehicles in Hulhumale’ to Clear Streets

Police have towed a total of 787 vehicles in Hulhumale’ as part of an operation to remove illegally parked vehicles and those left on streets for extended periods.

The operation, which began on 6 December, primarily targeted vehicles that were registered outside the Male’ area.

Before initiating the towings, police had urged vehicle owners to remove their cars from the streets of Hulhumale’ Phase 1 and Phase 2. Following the completion of the operation, authorities reported that most of the vehicles removed were registered to zones other than Male’.

Among the towed vehicles, 252 had license plates unrelated to their registered zones, 186 were unregistered or had no license plates, and 349 were abandoned on the streets for long durations.

All vehicles have been taken to Thilafushi for further processing, police confirmed.
