The Council stated that it has received numerous complaints from residents about the widespread inconvenience caused by the rodents.
The campaign was inaugurated by Mayor Adam Azim at an event held near the Local Market. Council officials confirmed that the operation will take place in multiple areas of Malé over the coming days.
City Council staff are conducting the campaign, placing rat poison in designated locations to eliminate the pests. The staff will also be responsible for collecting the dead rats from the treated areas to ensure public hygiene is maintained.
