The incident occurred on Friday afternoon at approximately 15:50, when the vessel Savaari, operating from Fuvahmulah City, experienced engine failure while out at sea.
Fuvahmulah City Police responded promptly, transferring the ten people aboard the vessel—including seven women and a child—to a police speedboat and returning them safely to Fuvahmulah.
Assistance from another boat was used to bring the vessel back to Fuvahmulah. The police confirmed that all passengers are in good health.
The rescue comes as the Maldives is experiencing adverse weather conditions, with the Maldives Meteorological Service forecasting rough seas and thunderstorms across the country tonight. Authorities continue to advise the public to avoid travelling without checking weather reports during such conditions.
