The Central Asia Volleyball Association Women’s Cup 2025 has officially begun in the Maldives following a ceremonial opening of the tournament.

Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and hosts Maldives will compete in the Central Asian volleyball event.

The competition features the national women’s teams of the Maldives, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan, bringing together teams from across the Central Asian region.
The opening ceremony was attended by Sports Commissioner Mohamed Tholal, CAVA President and Maldives Volleyball Association President Mohamed Latheef, and the heads of volleyball associations from CAVA member countries.
As part of the ceremony, the Sports Commissioner formally inaugurated the tournament trophy, marking the official start of the competition. The opening match of the Women’s Cup was subsequently played between the Maldives and Bangladesh.
During the event, the Sports Commissioner highlighted the importance placed by the government and the Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Abdulla Rafiu, on hosting international sporting tournaments in the Maldives. The tournament was noted as reflecting national priorities on women’s empowerment and youth development, while also contributing to stronger regional cooperation among participating countries.
